"Mit großem Bedauern": Teamchef Binotto verlässt Ferrari
Ferrari wird in der Formel-1-WM 2023 einen neuen Teamchef an der Boxenmauer haben. Mattia Binotto, seit 28 Jahren in unterschiedlichen Funktionen für die Scuderia im Einsatz, verlässt das Team auf eigenen Wunsch zum 31. Dezember. "Mit großem Bedauern" habe er diese Entscheidung getroffen, wird der 53-Jährige in einem offiziellen Statement des Teams zitiert. Er sei aber überzeugt, "dass es für mich der richtige Schritt zum richtigen Zeitpunkt ist".
Gerüchte über einen Wechsel an der Spitze des traditionsreichen Teams, das 2007 in Kimi Räikkönen letztmals den Weltmeister stellte, waren bereits rund um das Saisonfinale in Abu Dhabi laut geworden. Binotto wird vorübergehend durch Ferrari-Geschäftsführer Benedetto Vigna ersetzt. Als sein Nachfolger ist unter anderem Frederic Vasseur (Alfa Romeo) im Gespräch, durch die italienischen Zeitungen geisterte auch bereits der Name Ross Brawn. Dieser war unter anderem in der Ära Michael Schumacher Technischer Direktor in Maranello und hört als Sportchef der Formel 1 auf.
Der Ferrari-Vorsitzende John Elkann hatte beim Heimrennen in Monza noch einmal den Druck erhöht und gefordert, dass das ganze Team besser werden müsse "einschließlich des Teamchefs". Elkann sagte weiter: "Wir haben gesehen, dass es noch immer zu viele Fehler gibt, was Zuverlässigkeit, Fahrer und Strategie angeht."
Ferrari beendete die Saison als Zweiter der Konstrukteursweltmeisterschaft, Top-Pilot Charles Leclerc gewann drei Rennen und wurde Vizeweltmeister. Mit Red Bull und Max Verstappen konnte es die Scuderia aber nur im Frühjahr aufnehmen.
