"Eine Ehre": Scaloni freut sich auf van Gaal
Der jüngste WM-Trainer trifft auf den ältesten – Argentiniens Lionel Scaloni (44) fiebert dem Viertelfinal-Duell mit dem erfahrenen Niederländer Louis van Gaal bereits entgegen. "Jeder kennt ihn. Jeder weiß, was er im Fußball erreicht hat. Es ist eine Ehre, gegen ihn bei einer WM zu spielen", sagte Scaloni nach dem 2:1 (1:0) der Albiceleste im Achtelfinale gegen Australien.
Es mache ihn "stolz", am Freitag (20.00 Uhr MEZ/ZDF und MagentaTV) auf den 71 Jahre alten van Gaal zu treffen. "Ich war ein junger Profi und habe bei Deportivo La Coruna gespielt, als er als Trainer in Barcelona gearbeitet hat. Stellt euch das mal vor, es ist so lange her", scherzte Scaloni vor der Partie gegen die Niederlande, die sich im Achtelfinale mit 3:1 gegen die USA durchgesetzt hatte.
Van Gaals Team brilliere bei dieser WM nicht so wie frühere niederländische Mannschaften. "Aber sie machen einige Dinge sehr gut, andere wiederum nicht so gut", sagte Scaloni. Es werde ein schönes Spiel mit zwei großen Nationalteams.
Der argentinische Coach setzt dabei auch auf eine Rückkehr des angeschlagenen Angel Di Maria (Oberschenkelprobleme). "Hoffentlich wird er spielen können. Ich denke nicht, dass wir ihm geholfen hätten, wenn wir ihn heute gebracht hätten", sagte Scaloni, der gegen Australien auf Di Maria verzichtet hatte. In den nächsten Tagen werde sich der Zustand des Offensivspielers weiter verbessern.
