Deutschlands Eishockey-Superstar Leon Draisaitl hat seinen 18. Saisontreffer für die Edmonton Oilers in der nordamerikanischen Profiliga NHL erzielt. Beim 8:2 gegen die Arizona Coyotes war der 27-Jährige in der 29. Minute im Powerplay der Kanadier auf Zuspiel seines kongenialen Stürmerkollegen Connor McDavid erfolgreich.
Es war der 3:0-Zwischenstand für die Oilers, die in den letzten sieben Spielen fünf Siege feierten. Später gelang dem deutschen Ausnahmespieler noch sein 26. Assists in dieser Saison, womit er sein Konto in der Scorerwertung auf 44 aufstockte. In der Pacific Division belegt das Draisaitl-Team den vierten Platz mit 30 Punkten.
Der deutsche Profi John-Jason Peterka von den Buffalo Sabres hat derweil in der Nacht zum Donnerstag einen 9:4-Erfolg bei den Columbus Blue Jackets gefeiert. Der 20-jährige Münchner konnte sich allerdings am Torreigen in 16:55 Minuten Einsatzzeit nicht beteiligen. Schon nach dem ersten Drittel führten die Gäste aus Buffalo mit 6:0 und konnten damit die Begegnung entscheiden. In der Atlantic Division belegt Buffalo, das zum zweiten Sieg in Folge kam, den siebten Platz mit 25 Zählern.
