Skispringen: Geiger in Willingen zurück im Weltcup-Team
Skispringer Karl Geiger kehrt nach seiner kurzen Auszeit wie angekündigt in den Weltcup zurück. Der zuletzt formschwache Olympia-Dritte geht am Wochenende beim Heimspiel in Willingen ebenso an den Start wie Rückkehrer Philipp Raimund. "Ich fühle mich besser, ich habe wieder etwas mehr Sicherheit zurückgekriegt. Das war der richtige Zeitpunkt, um nochmal aus dem Wettkampfrhythmus rauszugehen", sagte der Oberstdorfer.
Geiger hatte zuletzt das Skifliegen am Kulm in Österreich ausgelassen, um mit Blick auf die nahende WM im slowenischen Planica (21. Februar bis 5. März) in seiner Heimat an seinen Sprüngen zu feilen. "Das lief sehr gut, uns stand eine sehr gute, optimal präparierte Schanze bei sehr guten Verhältnissen zur Verfügung. Karl hat einige sehr gute Sprünge gezeigt", sagte Bundestrainer Stefan Horngacher.
In Willingen wird an drei Tagen gesprungen, los geht es am Freitag mit einem Mixed-Wettkampf. Am Samstag und Sonntag steht für Frauen und Männer jeweils ein Einzel an.
