Draisaitl mit Vorlage beim Allstar-Game
Seine vierte Teilnahme am Allstar-Game der Profiliga NHL war für Deutschlands Eishockey-Ausnahmeerscheinung Leon Draisaitl ein kurzes Vergnügen. Der Angreifer der Edmonton Oilers unterlag mit der Auswahl der Pacific Division gegen die Central Division vor 19.200 Zuschauern in Sunrise/Florida mit 4:6, der gebürtige Kölner gab die Vorlage zum zwischenzeitlichen 4:5. Beim Sieger kam Wladimir Tarassenko auf vier Scorerpunkte, er traf einmal und lieferte drei Assists.
Im Finale musste sich die Central Division dem Team der Atlantic Division mit 5:7 geschlagen geben. Dylan Larkin erzielte dabei einen Hattrick. Zum MVP wurde sein Mannschaftskollege Matthew Tkachuk von den Florida Panthers gewählt, der gegen die Central-Auswahl einmal traf und einen Assist beisteuerte. Beim 10:6 zuvor im zweiten Halbfinale gegen die Metropolitan Division war er auf drei Tore und zwei Vorlagen gekommen.
Für die Atlantic Division war es der erste Triumph im neuen Allstar-Game-Format, das 2016 eingeführt worden war. Gespielt wurde nur zweimal zehn Minuten, pro Team standen jeweils nur drei Feldspieler und ein Torhüter auf dem Eis. Die elf Spieler der siegreichen Mannschaft teilen sich die Siegprämie von einer Million Dollar.
Im kommenden Jahr findet die Veranstaltung am 2. und 3. Februar in Toronto statt.
