Kombination: Shiffrin scheitert - Brignone triumphiert
Ski-Königin Mikael Shiffrin hat zum WM-Auftakt ihrer Gold-Mission den ersten herben Rückschlag hinnehmen müssen. In der Kombination schied die in den vergangenen Wochen dominierende Amerikanerin im Slalom kurz vor dem Ziel nach einem Einfädler aus. Die Titelverteidigerin, nach dem Super-G Sechste, lag klar auf Siegkurs.
Der erste Titel in Meribel ging an die Italienerin Federica Brignone (32). Die Kombinations-Olympiadritte von Peking verteidigte ihre deutliche Führung vom Super-G auch im Slalom. Brignone triumphierte souverän vor der Schweizerin Wendy Holdener (+1,62 Sekunden) und der Österreicherin Ricarda Haaser (+2,26).
Emma Aicher belegte mit 3,78 Sekunden Rückstand Rang acht. Die 19-Jährige, einzige deutsche Starterin, vergab ihre Chancen auf eine bessere Platzierung im Super-G, wo sie nur 23. wurde.
Lara Gut-Behrami (Schweiz) und Ragnhild Mowinckel (Norwegen), die nach dem Super-G noch zeitgleich auf Rang zwei gelegen hatten, verzichteten auf einen Start im Slalom. Shiffrin, die zuletzt ihren 85. Weltcupsieg gefeiert hatte, verpasste ihren siebten WM-Titel, die zwölfte WM-Medaille insgesamt.
Am Dienstag geht es bei der WM in Courchevel mit der Kombination der Männer weiter. Bei den Frauen steht am Mittwoch der Super-G an.
