Superstar Kylian Mbappe ist neuer Kapitän der französischen Fußball-Nationalmannschaft. Das berichtete die französische Nachrichtenagentur AFP am Montagabend unter Berufung auf Quellen aus dem nahen Umfeld der Equipe tricolore. Zuvor hatten die Zeitungen L'Equipe und Le Figaro darüber berichtet.
Demnach hat Nationaltrainer Didier Deschamps den Starstürmer von Meister Paris St. Germain im Amt des Spielführers zum Nachfolger des nach der WM-Endrunde in Katar zurückgetretenen Torhüters Hugo Lloris ernannt. Damit feiert der 24-Jährige am Freitag in der Qualifikation zur EM-Endrunde 2024 in Deutschland gegen die Niederlande seine Premiere als Kapitän der "Les Bleus".
