Trotz Flick-Anruf: Talent Samardzic spielt für Serbien
Lazar Samardzic wurde in Deutschland geboren und ausgebildet, spielte für die deutsche U21 - aber läuft künftig für Serbien auf. Der 21 Jahre alte Mittelfeldspieler begründete seinen Korb für Bundestrainer Hansi Flick mit familiären Erwägungen und der sportlichen Perspektive.
Er habe "mehrere Gespräche" mit dem serbischen Nationaltrainer Dragan Stojkovic geführt, sagte Samardzic Sport1. Daraufhin folgte die Einladung zu den EM-Qualifikationsspielen gegen Litauen (24. März) und Montenegro (27. März). Stojkovic habe ihm "sehr schnell das Gefühl vermittelt, dass ich direkt eine wichtige Rolle spielen kann".
Flick konnte den Profi von Udinese Calcio nicht mehr umstimmen. "Hansi Flick hat sich sehr um mich bemüht und mir seinerseits einen Weg mit der A-Nationalmannschaft aufgezeigt, was mich sehr gefreut hat. Natürlich ist es eine Ehre, wenn dich der Bundestrainer anruft", sagte Samardzic: "Trotzdem war ich mir zu diesem Zeitpunkt bereits sicher, dass ich für das Heimatland meiner Eltern auflaufen will."
