Völler: "Funke muss überspringen"
Auf dem Weg zu alter Fan-Begeisterung für die deutsche Fußball-Nationalmannschaft sieht Rudi Völler die Leistungen auf dem Feld als zentralen Baustein an. "Wir können viele Kleinigkeiten tun, aber das Allerwichtigste ist, dass der Funke im Laufe eines Spiels überspringen muss", sagte der Nationalmannschaftsdirektor einen Tag nach dem 2:0-Erfolg gegen Peru im Interview mit der Sportschau.
Der DFB hatte nach dem WM-Debakel in Katar in der abgelaufenen Woche zu einem öffentlichen Training mit Möglichkeiten für Selfies und Autogramme eingeladen, was laut Völler "in Zukunft" immer mal wieder passieren werde, aber: "Das Wichtigste wird der Auftritt der Mannschaft sein. Wenn die Zuschauer und Anhänger das Gefühl haben, dass wir alles dafür tun, erfolgreich zu sein - dann werden wir diese auch zurückgewinnen", so Völler, der mit dem Auftritt gegen Peru "rundum zufrieden" war.
Die DFB-Elf, die auf dem Weg zur Heim-EM 2024 nur Freundschaftsspiele bestreitet, trifft am Dienstag in Köln (20.45 Uhr/RTL) auf Belgien.
