Biathlon: IBU schließt aktuell Rückkehr der Russen aus
Die Internationale Biathlon-Union IBU sieht trotz einer "Empfehlung" des Internationalen Olympischen Komitees aktuell keinen Grund für eine Rückkehr von Teams aus Russland und Belarus. "Angesichts der aktuellen Situation in der Ukraine sind die Gründe, die zu der Entscheidung des Kongresses geführt haben, immer noch gültig. Die Zeit ist nicht gekommen, um diese Entscheidung zu überdenken", teilte die IBU auf SID-Anfrage mit.
Man habe "die neuen IOC-Empfehlungen zur neutralen Teilnahme von Einzelsportlern mit russischem oder belarussischem Pass an internationalen Wettkämpfen zur Kenntnis genommen und wird diese sorgfältig prüfen", hieß es weiter. "Langfristig" sei die IBU "offen für einen Dialog, wie Athleten aus Russland und Belarus wieder in unsere Wettkämpfe integriert werden können." Noch hätten sich "die Umstände der rechtswidrigen Invasion Russlands" aber nicht geändert.
Im September 2022 hatte der IBU-Kongress entschieden, Russland und Belarus weiterhin von allen Wettkämpfen auszuschließen. Der Weltcup und die WM in Oberhof fanden deshalb ohne Teams der beiden Länder statt.
