Ruder-EM: Zeidler souverän im Finale
Ruder-Weltmeister Oliver Zeidler hat sich bei den Europameisterschaften im slowenischen Bled souverän die Finalteilnahme gesichert. Die größte Medaillenhoffnung des Deutschen Ruderverbandes (DRV) gewann das Halbfinale über 2000 Meter in 6:57,17 Minuten mit rund drei Sekunden Vorsprung auf den Griechen Stefanos Ntouskos.
Einer-Dominator Zeidler gilt im Endlauf am Sonntag (13.25 Uhr) als großer Favorit auf Gold. Bei der Heim-EM im Vorjahr hatte der 26-Jährige nach einem Einbruch überraschend eine Medaille verpasst.
Im Doppelzweier der Männer scheiterten Marc Weber und Jonas Gelsen am Einzug in den Endlauf. Im Schlussspurt musste sich das Duo den drittplatzierten Belgiern nach 6:22,19 Minuten um eine Sekunde geschlagen geben.
Der zweite Saisonhöhepunkt ist die WM vom 3. bis 10. September in Belgrad, wo eine Vielzahl der Startplätze für die Olympischen Spiele 2024 in Paris vergeben wird.
