Nations League: Volleyballerinnen mit erster Niederlage
Die deutschen Volleyballerinnen haben in der Nations League ihre erste Niederlage kassiert. Nach zwei Siegen zum Auftakt verlor das Team von Bundestrainer Vital Heynen gegen China 0:3 (19:25, 20:25, 22:25). Zuvor hatte die deutsche Mannschaft in Nagoya/Japan gegen die Niederlande (3:1) und Kroatien (3:0) gewonnen.
Beste Scorerin für die Auswahl des Deutschen Volleyball-Verbandes (DVV) war wie schon in den Spielen zuvor Außenangreiferin Hanna Orthmann mit 19 Punkten. Das DVV-Team trifft zum Abschluss der ersten von insgesamt drei Wochen noch auf Bulgarien. In der Volleyball Nations League (VNL) geht es für Deutschland mit Blick auf die Qualifikation für die Olympischen Spiele 2024 in Paris um wichtige Punkte für die Weltrangliste.
Pro Geschlecht treten in der VNL 16 Mannschaften an. In der ersten Phase absolvieren die Teams jeweils zwölf Spiele, die besten acht Nationen qualifizieren sich für das Viertelfinale. In der vergangenen Saison hatten die DVV-Frauen den zehnten Platz belegt. Die Männer-Nationalmannschaft startet am 8. Juni in Ottawa/Kanada gegen Brasilien in die VNL-Saison.
