Doppelpacker Gündogan schießt City zum Double
Englands Fußball-Meister Manchester City fehlt dank Doppelpacker Ilkay Gündogan nur noch ein Sieg zum ersten Triple der Vereinshistorie. Die Mannschaft von Teammanager Pep Guardiola bezwang am Samstag den Stadtrivalen Manchester United im FA-Cup-Finale von Wembley 2:1 (1:1) und sicherte sich den ersten Titel im Wettbewerb seit 2019. In einer Woche spielen die Citizens zudem gegen Inter Mailand um den Triumph in der Champions League.
Entscheidender Mann im ersten Duell mit ManUnited überhaupt im ältesten Fußball-Wettbewerb der Welt war Nationalspieler Gündogan. Der Kapitän brachte City zweimal sehenswert in Führung (1., 51.), sein Treffer nach 13 Sekunden ist nun das schnellste Final-Tor der FA-Cup-Geschichte. Bruno Fernandes hatte per Handelfmeter nach Videobeweis für den zwischenzeitlichen Ausgleich der Red Devils (33.) gesorgt.
Citys Stürmerstar Erling Haaland blieb für die überlegenen Skyblues vergleichsweise unauffällig und überließ die großen Momente Gündogan, der in der Eröffnungsphase nach langem Abschlag von "Pokaltorhüter" Stefan Ortega nicht lange zögerte, aus 17 Metern abzog und ins lange Eck traf. Auch nach dem Seitenwechsel war es der frühere Dortmunder, der im Anschluss an eine Ecke den Ball per Direktabnahme im Tor versenkte. Ein dritter Treffer in der 72. Minute zählte zu Recht nicht, Gündogan hatte zuvor im Abseits gestanden.
