Pütz gewinnt Mixed-Titel in Paris
Der Frankfurter Tennisprofi Tim Pütz hat bei den French Open in Paris im Mixed seinen ersten Grand-Slam-Titel gewonnen. Der 35 Jahre alte Davis-Cup-Spieler setzte sich an der Seite der Japanerin Miyu Kato im Finale gegen Michael Venus/Bianca Andreescu (Neuseeland/Kanada) 4:6, 6:4 und 10:6 im Match-Tiebreak durch. Das Duo hatte erst kurz vor dem Turnierstart in Roland Garros zusammengefunden.
Pütz ist der dritte deutsche Mixed-Champion in Paris. 1930 hatte Cilly Aussem mit dem US-Amerikaner Bill Tilden triumphiert, 2014 holte Anna-Lena Grönefeld mit Jean-Julien Rojer aus den Niederlanden den Titel. Vor Pütz hatte jedoch nur ein männlicher deutscher Tennisspieler einen Major-Mixed-Titel geholt: 1933 triumphierte Gottfried von Cramm in Wimbledon mit Hilde Krahwinkel.
Für den Sieg kassierten Pütz/Kato 122.000 Euro Preisgeld, im Doppel hatte Pütz nach dem Viertelfinaleinzug mit Kevin Krawietz zudem 40.000 Euro verdient. Das Mixed wird im Profitennis nur bei den vier Grand-Slam-Turnieren und bei den Olympischen Spielen ausgetragen.
"Ich wäre lieber im Doppelfinale, das ist auch kein Geheimnis, aber klar freue ich mich trotzdem", hatte Pütz nach dem Finaleinzug gesagt. Mit Kato (28) klappte es trotz einiger Verständigungsschwierigkeiten, da die Japanerin wenig Englisch spricht. "Also so was wie Stellungsspiel oder Laufwege haben wir jetzt in eineinhalb Wochen noch nicht besprochen", sagte Pütz.
