Russlands Fußballverband zieht gegen Sperren vor den CAS
Der russische Fußballverband zieht gegen den Ausschluss von der WM 2022 in Katar durch die FIFA sowie von sämtlichen europäischen Klubwettbewerben durch die UEFA vor den CAS. Der Internationale Sportgerichtshof bestätigte am Dienstag den Eingang des entsprechenden Einspruchs, den der Verband am vergangenen Donnerstag bereits angekündigt hatte.
Russland unterstrich dabei seine Forderung, die Sperren aufzuheben und sämtliche Teams wieder in alle Wettbewerbe auszunehmen. Unter anderem war Spartak Moskau von der Europa League ausgeschlossen worden, damit steht Gegner RB Leipzig bereits als Viertelfinalist fest.
Betroffen ist vor allem aber Russlands Nationalmannschaft, die am 24. März in den WM-Play-offs gegen Polen hätte antreten sollen. Das Land wurde jedoch als Reaktion auf die Invasion in der Ukraine von allen Wettbewerben ausgeschlossen. Gegner Polen hatte bereits angekündigt, in den Play-offs auf keinen Fall gegen Russland anzutreten.
Aus Sicht des Verbandes liege für die Entscheidung von FIFA und UEFA "keine Rechtsgrundlage" vor. Der Beschluss sei "unter dem Druck" der gegnerischen Verbände getroffen worden, zudem habe man seine eigene Position nicht darlegen dürfen.
