Medien: Gvardiol für 90 Millionen von Leipzig zu City
Abwehrspieler Josko Gvardiol wechselt nach übereinstimmenden Medienberichten für 90 Millionen Euro von RB Leipzig zum englischen Fußball-Meister Manchester City. Das berichten unter anderem Sky und BBC. Der 21-Jährige war 2021 für 19 Millionen Euro von Dinamo Zagreb nach Leipzig gekommen, vor einem Jahr erreichte er mit der kroatischen Nationalmannschaft das WM-Halbfinale.
Beim Leipziger Test gegen den belgischen Erstligisten VV St. Truiden am Mittwoch (4:0) stand Gvardiol schon nicht mehr im Kader. Der Linksfuß soll noch in dieser Woche seinen Medizincheck in Manchester absolvieren. Der teuerste Verteidiger der Geschichte würde Gvardiol indes nicht: Harry Maguire war 2019 für 93 Millionen Euro von Leicester City zu Manchester United gewechselt.
RB-Sportchef Max Eberl hatte zuletzt Verhandlungen mit ManCity bestätigt, aber erklärt, beide Parteien seien in ihren Vorstellungen noch "weit" auseinander.
Gvardiol trifft bei City auf Landsmann Mateo Kovacic, der vom FC Chelsea zum Champions-League-Sieger kommt. Bei City wartet auf Gvardiol indes in Manuel Akanji, Ruben Dias, John Stones und Aymeric Laporte hochkarätige Konkurrenz.
