NFL: Superstar Brady kehrt zurück
Superstar Tom Brady will seine unvergleichliche NFL-Karriere nun doch noch einmal fortsetzen. Nur 40 Tage nach seiner Rücktritts-Ankündigung machte der 44-Jährige einen Rückzieher und kündigte sein Comeback in der US-Profiliga NFL an. Quarterback Brady, der in 22 Jahren sieben Mal den Super Bowl gewann, will ein weiteres Jahr für die Tampa Bay Bucaneers spielen.
Er habe "In den vergangenen beiden Monaten festgestellt, dass mein Platz noch immer auf dem Feld ist und nicht auf der Tribüne", schrieb Brady in den sozialen Medien. Diese Zeit im Ruhestand werde schon noch kommen, "aber nicht jetzt. Ich komme für meine 23. Saison nach Tampa zurück." Es gebe noch etwas zu erledigen.
Mit den Bucaneers gewann Brady vor zwei Jahren den Super Bowl. In den diesjährigen Play-offs war Tampa Bay in der Divisional Round am späteren Sieger Los Angeles Rams gescheitert. Brady hatte 2020 nach 19 Jahren und einer Titel-Dynastie die New England Patriots verlassen.
Buccaneers-Coach Bruce Arians ist "begeistert", dass Brady beschlossen hat, "weiterzuspielen und einen weiteren Titel gewinnen will. Er hat nach wie vor das Niveau dazu." Die Bucaneers posteten: "He's baaackkkk."
Auch München darf sich auf Brady, der im August 45 wird, freuen. Die Tampa Bay Buccaneers stehen als eines der beiden Teams fest, die im Herbst in der Allianz Arena das erste NFL-Spiel in Deutschland bestreiten werden. Der Gegner ist noch offen.
