NHL: Calgarys Vizepräsident verliert Kampf gegen ALS
Die Eishockey-Profiliga NHL trauert um Chris Snow. Der Vizepräsident und stellvertretende Geschäftsführer der Calgary Flames verlor am Samstag seinen Kampf gegen die unheilbare Nervenkrankheit ALS, er wurde 42 Jahre alt.
"Heute haben wir Chris zum letzten Mal umarmt und Abschied genommen, als er vier Menschen das Geschenk des Lebens machte, indem er seine Nieren, Leber und Lungen spendete", schrieb Snows Ehefrau Kelsie bei X, ehemals Twitter: "Wir sind zutiefst erschüttert und sehr stolz."
Snow hatte 2019 die ALS-Diagnose erhalten, kurz nachdem er seinen Vater, zwei Onkel und einen Cousin durch die Krankheit verloren hatte. Am vergangenen Dienstag hatte er einen Herzstillstand erlitten. Zwei Tage später teilte seine Ehefrau mit, dass er nicht mehr aufwachen werde.
Snow war bis zuletzt sehr offen mit seiner Erkrankung umgegangen, seinen Job kündigte er nicht. Bei den NHL Awards im vergangenen Jahr hatte er sichtlich gezeichnet mit seiner Frau und seinen zwei Kindern die Norris Trophy für den besten Verteidiger der Saison überreicht - und erhielt Standing Ovations.
