Gegen Heidenheim: Stuttgart will DFB-"Schwung" mitnehmen
Mit dem Schwung der Nationalmannschaft ins Baden-Württemberg-Duell gegen den 1. FC Heidenheim: Der VfB Stuttgart will aus den starken Leistungen der DFB-Elf für die Bundesliga Kapital schlagen und auf dem Weg in die Champions League den nächsten Sieg einfahren.
"Die Jungs sind mit einem guten Gefühl zurückgekommen", sagte VfB-Trainer Sebastian Hoeneß am Donnerstag und sprach von einem "großartigen Erlebnis" für die vier Stuttgarter Nationalspieler: "Wir hoffen, dass die Jungs diesen Schwung, den sie in die Nationalmannschaft gebracht haben, bei uns mitnehmen. Da bin ich sehr optimistisch."
Maximilian Mittelstädt, Deniz Undav, Waldemar Anton und Chris Führich hätten die Euphorie rund um das deutsche Team nicht bloß miterlebt, sondern "auch mit ausgelöst. Das gibt den Jungs ein gutes Gefühl, das strahlen sie auch aus." Das Risiko eines Spannungsabfalls für die Partie am Sonntag (17.30 Uhr/DAZN) befürchtet Hoeneß nicht: "Ich sehe die Gefahr nicht so groß. Die Jungs haben ein klares Ziel vor Augen, da kannst du dir keinen Spannungsabfall erlauben."
Für zusätzliche Motivation sollen die 60.000 Zuschauer im gerade fertig gestellten EM-Stadion sorgen. Zudem wird es das 1000. Spiel in der Arena sein. "Ich verbinde viel mit diesem Stadion. Mein Vater war hier schon als Manager, da war ich noch sehr klein und das war für mich das größte als Fan im Stadion zu sitzen und mitzufiebern", sagte Hoeneß: "1000 Spiele – das kann kein anderes Stadion von sich behaupten in der Bundesliga. Wir hoffen, dass wir es auch sportlich zu einem erfolgreichen Spiel machen."
Stuttgart liegt mit 56 Punkten momentan auf dem dritten Platz mit sechs Zählern Vorsprung auf den Vierten Borussia Dortmund. Heidenheim ist mit 29 Punkten Elfter.
