Sinner deklassiert Medwedew im Halbfinale von Miami
Jannik Sinner hat auch die Neuauflage des Australian-Open-Endspiels gewonnen und greift beim Tennis-Masters in Miami nach dem nächsten großen Titel der Saison. Der Italiener ließ im Halbfinale Titelverteidiger Daniil Medwedew beim 6:1, 6:2 keine Chance. Mit dem souveränen Erfolg gegen den Weltranglistenvierten aus Russland baute Sinner seine Jahresbilanz auf 21 Siege in 22 Matches aus.
Im Finale am Sonntag trifft der 22-Jährige auf Alexander Zverev (Hamburg) oder Grigor Dimitrow (Bulgarien). Sinner hat in dieser Saison neben dem Titel beim Grand-Slam-Highlight in Melbourne auch das Turnier in Rotterdam gewonnen. Nur beim Masters in Indian Wells war er zuletzt im Halbfinale ausgeschieden.
Die Partie zwischen Sinner und Medwedew (28) entwickelt sich zum Dauerduell auf der ATP-Tour. Im vergangenen Jahr standen sich die beiden Rivalen sechsmal gegenüber, insgesamt war es das elfte Aufeinandertreffen. Dabei scheint Sinner Medwedew entschlüsselt zu haben: Nach sechs Niederlagen gewann er die vergangenen fünf Matches - bei den Australian Open nach 0:2-Satzrückstand.
Gewinnt Sinner den Titel in Florida, zieht er in der Weltrangliste am Spanier Carlos Alcaraz vorbei auf Platz zwei. Medwedew bleibt trotz der Niederlage sicher auf Platz vier vor Olympiasieger Zverev.
