Transfersperre: Lienen hofft auf Gnade für den FC
Ewald Lienen hat nach der Transfersperre für seinen Ex-Klub 1. FC Köln die Hoffnung auf ein milderes Urteil noch nicht aufgegeben. "Für mich ist es abenteuerlich, einen Verein wie den 1. FC Köln derart zu bestrafen", sagte der langjährige Bundesliga-Trainer im ran-Interview: "Ich hoffe, dass dieses Urteil noch einmal revidiert wird."
Köln war vom Weltverband FIFA mit einer Transfersperre über zwei Wechselperioden bestraft worden, Auslöser war der Transfer des damals 16-jährigen Jaka Cuber Potocnik im Januar 2022. Der FC ging vor dem Internationalen Sportgerichtshof CAS gegen die Entscheidung vor, sie hatte aber auch dort bestand.
Diese Strafe "bedroht die Existenz und kann zur Insolvenz führen", sagte Lienen nun: "Denn wenn der 1. FC Köln absteigt und keinen Spieler dazunehmen kann, mit welcher Mannschaft soll der Klub denn dann spielen? Das ist Hardcore. Und vor allem ist es Hardcore, im Vergleich zu den großen Vereinen, denen das Financial Fairplay egal war."
Lienen hatte die Kölner von 1999 bis 2002 trainiert, der 70-Jährige drückt seinem Ex-Klub noch immer die Daumen. "Es ist alles noch möglich, aber sie sind schon vier Punkte vom Relegationsplatz entfernt. Mainz hat einen Lauf, Bochum hat den Trainer schon gewechselt. Das wird sehr schwer. Aber es warten jetzt ja im Restprogramm noch direkte Konkurrenten im Abstiegskampf. Kölns Nachteil ist, dass sie zu wenig Tore schießen", sagte Lienen.
