Bei CL-Sieg des BVB: Sechster Startplatz für die Bundesliga?
Die Bundesliga kann auf einen sechsten Champions-League-Startplatz in der kommenden Saison hoffen. Sollte Halbfinalist Borussia Dortmund die Königsklasse gewinnen, in der Liga "nur" Fünfter werden und die Bundesliga durch das UEFA-Ranking einen fünften Startplatz erhalten, würde sich auch der Tabellensechste für die Champions League qualifizieren. Das bestätigte die UEFA am Mittwoch auf SID-Anfrage.
Von dieser Konstellation würde derzeit Eintracht Frankfurt profitieren - aber auch Teams wie der FC Augsburg oder der SC Freiburg könnten dadurch noch von der Königsklasse träumen. Ein möglicher sechster Startplatz hängt direkt mit dem BVB zusammen. Sollten die Westfalen in der Liga Vierter oder besser werden und den Henkelpott gewinnen, geht der Qualifikationsplatz an die UEFA zurück - und der nationale Meister des elftplatzierten Verbandes des UEFA-Rankings würde profitieren. Das wäre derzeit Schachtar Donezk aus der Ukraine, das die Qualifikation umgehen würde.
Die beiden besten Nationen der Rangliste erhalten am Ende der Saison einen zusätzlichen Startplatz für die kommende Spielzeit in der Champions League, die in Folge einer umfassenden Reform von 32 auf 36 Mannschaften aufgestockt wird. Deutschland belegt in diesem Ranking derzeit vor England den zweiten Platz.
