Erneuter Ausfall: Weitere Knie-OP bei Popp
DFB-Kapitänin Alexandra Popp muss kurz nach ihrem Comeback einen erneuten Rückschlag verkraften. Die Fußballerin des VfL Wolfsburg hat sich am Donnerstag einer weiteren Operation am rechten Knie unterzogen. Trainer Tommy Stroot bezifferte die Ausfallzeit in einer Medienrunde auf "vier bis sechs Wochen".
"Die Nachricht hat mich kurz weggegrätscht, kann man sagen, aber es geht weiter", schrieb Popp bei Instagram aus dem Krankenhaus. "Ich habe die OP sehr gut überstanden und hoffe und bete nun, dass diese Plage ein Ende hat." Sie werde wieder arbeiten, "um bald wieder auf dem Platz zu stehen, denn das war ein wunderbares Gefühl".
Erst am Sonntag hatte die 30-Jährige nach fast neunmonatiger Verletzungspause wegen einer Knorpelverletzung ihren ersten Einsatz beim Testspiel gegen den Ligarivalen Eintracht Frankfurt (1:2) bestritten. Nach der Partie sei in Popps Knie "eine Reaktion da gewesen, die wir alle so nicht erwartet hätten", erklärte Stroot. Popp schrieb: "Manchmal liegen Freud und Leid ganz nah beieinander."
Der VfL-Trainer betonte: "Wir wissen, dass sie in vier bis sechs Wochen wieder zurückkommen wird". Er sei froh, sie dann "in den wichtigen englischen Wochen wieder dabei zu haben", man habe die Entscheidung, die OP nun zu machen, "bewusst getroffen".
Bei Popp seien "Schmerzsymptome im betroffenen Knie aufgetreten. Im Rahmen einer MRT-Untersuchung wurde ein gelöstes Knorpelfragment diagnostiziert, das operativ entfernt werden muss", hieß es in einer Vereinsmitteilung.
Das erste Pflichtspiel nach der Winterpause bestreitet der Tabellendritte am Samstag (14.00 Uhr) mit dem Bundesliga-Nachholspiel bei Turbine Potsdam.
