Golf: Korda stellt Rekordserie ein
Profi-Golferin Nelly Korda hat ihre Siegesserie auf der LPGA-Tour fortgesetzt und den Rekord für die meisten Turniersiege in Folge eingestellt. Der Weltranglistenersten aus den USA gelang beim Major-Turnier in The Woodlands/Texas ihr fünfter Sieg nacheinander. Bislang erreichten diese Marke nur Nancy Lopez (USA) 1978 und die Schwedin Annika Sörenstam 2004/05.
Korda setzte sich mit 275 Schlägen vor der Schwedin Maja Stark (277) durch und sicherte sich neben dem zweiten Major-Titel ihrer Karriere ein Preisgeld von 1,2 Millionen Dollar. "Es ist ein Major. Es ist alles, was ich mir als kleines Mädchen immer gewünscht habe, diese große Trophäe zu gewinnen", sagte die 25-Jährige: "Ich kann jetzt endlich durchatmen und den Moment genießen, denn ich war wirklich sehr nervös."
Vor ihrem Triumph in Texas hatte Korda in diesem Jahr bereits die Drive On Championship im Januar, die Seri Pak und Ford Championship im März und das LPGA Match Play Anfang dieses Monats in Las Vegas gewonnen. Bei einem weiteren Sieg würde sie zur alleinigen Rekordhalterin aufsteigen. "Ich nehme einfach einen Schuss nach dem anderen", sagte Korda: "Bisher hat es funktioniert. Ich habe das Gefühl, dass Golf manchmal zu kompliziert werden kann".
