Alba zurück auf dem Parkett: Niederlage in Mailand
Nach einer mehr als zweiwöchigen Corona-Zwangspause hat Alba Berlin den Spielbetrieb wieder aufgenommen und eine Niederlage in der EuroLeague kassiert. In Italien verlor der deutsche Basketballmeister beim Vorjahreshalbfinalisten Armani Mailand mit 76:84 (40:38).
Alba war wegen zahlreicher positiver Tests im Team zuletzt am 2. Januar aufgelaufen. Insgesamt fünf Begegnungen in der EuroLeague und in der Bundesliga mussten seitdem verschoben werden. Das Spiel in Mailand war allerdings am ursprünglichen Termin (29. Dezember) wegen Coronafällen bei den Italienern abgesagt worden.
"Wir sind gerade erst aus der Quarantäne zurückgekommen und es wird schwierig sein, die volle Energie abzurufen", sagte Alba-Trainer Israel Gonzalez vor dem Spiel. Die Berliner um Topscorer Maodo Lo (13 Punkte) hielten das Duell dennoch lange offen, erst in den letzten fünf Minuten zog Mailand entscheidend davon. Der Bundesligist steht nun bei sechs Siegen und zwölf Niederlagen. Die Play-off-Plätze sind in weiter Ferne.
