Flick zu Katar: "Keine WM für Fans"
Bundestrainer Hansi Flick bedauert die negativen Auswirkungen der umstrittenen Fußball-WM in Katar (20. November bis 18. Dezember). "Grundsätzlich finde ich es schade, dass dieses Turnier keine WM für Fans wird", sagte der 57-Jährige im Interview mit der Frankfurter Rundschau und dem RedaktionsNetzwerk Deutschland (RND).
Er habe viele Bekannte, so Flick, "die gerne nach Katar fliegen würden, es aber aus vielerlei Gründen unterlassen". Sie könnten sich die massiven Preise nicht leisten, die Situation etwa für Homosexuelle sei inakzeptabel, es gebe Menschenrechtsverletzungen, weil Minderheiten ausgegrenzt würden. "Dabei sollte der Fußball für alle da sein. Darum sage ich: Es ist keine WM für den normalen Fan", erklärte Flick.
Ein politisches Statement der Nationalmannschaft in Katar sei "für alle Beteiligten eine Herausforderung", meinte Flick, "wir haben schon viele Gespräche geführt, um die Mannschaft bestmöglich zu informieren. Wir werden uns im September erneut zusammensetzen und überlegen, was wir, möglicherweise auch gemeinsam mit anderen Nationen und Mannschaften, machen können und wollen."
