Schlotterbeck: Katar-Frage nicht Aufgabe der Spieler
Fußball-Nationalspieler Nico Schlotterbeck sieht die Profis nicht in der Pflicht, gegen die WM in Katar aufzubegehren. "Wir Spieler können aus meiner Sicht ohnehin wenig beeinflussen, das ist in erster Linie eine Sache der Funktionäre und der Politik", sagte der Innenverteidiger von Borussia Dortmund im Interview mit dem RedaktionsNetzwerk Deutschland: "Wir Sportler haben das Turnier nicht nach Katar vergeben."
Die Aufgabe der Nationalmannschaft sei es ab dem Auftaktspiel gegen Japan am 23. November, "maximalen Erfolg zu haben". Er wünsche sich allerdings, "dass die WM zu einer weiteren Öffnung in Katar beitragen kann. Ich hoffe, dass jeder, der Bock auf die WM hat, auch vor Ort sein kann und wird."
Dass der 22-Jährige zum 26er-Kader von Bundestrainer Hansi Flick gehören wird, gilt derzeit als sicher. Zwei seiner Konkurrenten, Niklas Süle und Mats Hummels, spielen im selben Verein. "Natürlich flachst man auch mal untereinander, aber es ist schon schwer. Weil es sehr unwahrscheinlich ist, dass wir alle drei mitfahren", sagte der ehemalige Freiburger.
