Flick "absolut enttäuscht": Zweifel an der WM-Mission
Hansi Flick biss sich auf die Zunge. Sauer war der Bundestrainer nach dem 0:1 (0:1) gegen Ungarn, aber so richtig wollte er seine Wut nicht zeigen. "Ab und zu sollte man nicht ganz seine Emotionen rauslassen", sagte Flick, aber "ich bin schon absolut enttäuscht".
Etwas "zu lernen und mitzunehmen", sei 60 Tage vor dem WM-Start gegen Japan in Katar am 23. November das Wichtigste. Die Niederlage gegen den neuen Angstgegner brachte eine tiefe Ernüchterung mit sich: "Wie wir das Spiel angegangen sind, können wir es viel besser machen. Die Zeit der Experimente ist vorbei."
Auch DFB-Geschäftsführer Oliver Bierhoff fand besonders die erste Halbzeit in Leipzig am Freitag "wirklich, wirklich schlecht". Nun sind der Gruppensieg in der Nations League und die Teilnahme am Final Four 2023 nicht mehr möglich. England ist sogar abgestiegen, dennoch kommt dem Spiel eine große Bedeutung zu. "Das ist der letzte Test vor der Nominierung, wir wollen Wiedergutmachung", sagte Bierhoff. "Und wir wollen Vertrauen sammeln, das ist enorm wichtig. Wir müssen mehr an uns glauben."
Für die WM (20. November bis 18. Dezember) nahm Bierhoff die Erkenntnis mit, "dass du eine Topeinstellung bringen musst, weil du taktische Dinge nicht einstudieren kannst. Umso mehr werden Mentalität, Wille, Aggressivität zählen."
