Brasilien: Bolsonaro besucht Neymars Kinderzentrum im Wahlkampfendspurt
Kurz vor der Präsidentschaftswahl in Brasilien hat Fußballstar Neymar dem rechtsradikalen Amtsinhaber Jair Bolsonaro für einen Besuch in einem von ihm gegründeten Kinderzentrum in Sao Paulo gedankt. Kommunikationsminister Fabio Faria und Bolsonaros Sohn verbreiteten am Mittwoch (Ortszeit) eine Videobotschaft des Kapitäns der brasilianischen Nationalmannschaft. "Ich danke Ihnen für Ihren illustren Besuch. Ich würde sehr gerne hier sein, aber leider bin ich weit weg", sagte Neymar darin.
Das Institut Neymar Jr. ist ein 8400 Quadratmeter großer Komplex, in dem täglich 3000 Kinder betreut werden. Die Anlage liegt in Praia Grande, einer benachteiligten Gemeinde im Bundesstaat Sao Paulo, wo der Starangreifer von Paris St. Germain seine Kindheit verbracht hat. Bolsonaro tauschte sich bei dem Besuch mit den Jugendlichen aus und forderte sie dabei auf, ihre Eltern und Lehrer zu "respektieren".
Neymar, der am Dienstag mit der Selecao gegen Tunesien (5:1) in Paris auf dem Feld gestanden hatte, und Bolsonaro sind sich mindestens einmal rund um die Copa America 2019 in Brasilien begegnet. Vor einem Monat postete der Präsident ein Foto von sich mit einem Ball, den ihm Neymar angeblich geschenkt hatte. Neymar hatte sich bislang aus dem Wahlkampf in seinem Heimatland herausgehalten. Am 2. Oktober wird in Brasilien ein neuer Präsident gewählt.
