BR Volleys greifen an: "Wäre schön für die Geschichtsbücher"
Vom nächsten großen Meilenstein in der Volleyball-Bundesliga wollen sich die Berlin Recycling Volleys nicht beeindrucken lassen. Wenn die Saison am Samstag startet, beginnt für den Serienmeister die Jagd auf den Titelrekord. "Es wäre schön für die Geschichtsbücher", sagte Geschäftsführer Kaweh Niroomand dem SID: "Aber es ist reine Statistik, unsere Ziele bleiben unabhängig davon."
Die Berliner wollen auch in dieser Spielzeit "wieder um alle Titel in Deutschland mitspielen", betonte Niroomand vor dem ersten Ligaspiel am Sonntag beim TSV Haching München (16 Uhr).
Zwölf Mal hat der Hauptstadtklub die Meisterschaft bereits gewonnen, zuletzt sogar sechs Mal in Folge. Nur noch ein Titel fehlt den BR Volleys, um zum Rekordmeister und Dauerrivalen VfB Friedrichshafen (13 Titel) aufzuschließen.
Doch nach den Abgängen der beiden Leistungsträger Benjamin Patch und Sergej Grankin wirbt Niroomand um Geduld. Das Team müsse sich "auch finden, es ist eine neu formierte Mannschaft, die Zeit brauchen wird".
