Auch BMW befürwortet Entwicklung von E-Fuels
Wie Porsche spricht sich auch der Autobauer BMW für die Entwicklung synthetischer Kraftstoffe, sogenannter E-Fuels, aus. E-Fuels seien die einzige Möglichkeit, im Fahrzeugbestand "einen substanziellen Beitrag zu leisten", sagte am Mittwoch BMW-Chef Oliver Zipse bei der Vorstellung der Jahresbilanz. "Ich stimme den Kollegen, die das befürworten, sehr zu - auch insbesondere, weil unsere Motoren darauf vorbereitet sind."
Vor wenigen Tagen hatte Porsche-Chef Oliver Blume, gleichzeitig Chef des Volkswagen-Konzerns, E-Fuels als "sinnvolle Ergänzung im Bestand und in der Nische" verteidigt.
Synthetische Kraftstoffe können aus Wasserstoff und CO2 klimaneutral hergestellt werden, sie gelten aber noch als zu teuer und ineffizient. Derzeit wird der Kraftstoff nur in Pilotanlagen produziert. Audi betreibt eine Versuchsanlage in der Schweiz, Porsche baut eine Versuchsanlage in Chile. Darüber hinaus spielen E-Fuels für die Autoindustrie derzeit praktisch keine Rolle.
Die EU will Neuwagen mit Verbrennermotor ab 2035 verbieten. Der endgültige Beschluss musste Anfang März aufgeschoben werden, weil Bundesverkehrsminister Volker Wissing (FDP) kurzfristig ein Veto einlegte. Er fordert eine verbindliche Festlegung auf eine Ausnahmeregel für Autos mit Verbrennungsmotor, die E-Fuels tanken. Auch andere EU-Staaten sind gegen das vollständige Verbrenner-Aus ab 2035.
