Japanische Sonde offenbar auf Mond abgestürzt
Die unbemannte Mondmission des japanischen Start-Up-Unternehmens Ispace ist offenbar gescheitert. Der Mondlander "Hakuto-R" sei wahrscheinlich bei einer "harten Landung" auf der Mondoberfläche abgestürzt, erklärte Ispace-Gründer Takeshi Hakamada am Mittwoch. Zuvor war der Funkkontakt zu der Sonde abgebrochen. Ziel der Ispace-Mission war es, als erstes Privatunternehmen eine Sonde auf den Mond zu bringen.
"Hakuto-R" ist eine zwei mal 2,50 Meter große Sonde. Ein Erfolg der Mission war aber von Anfang an keinesfalls sicher. Im April 2019 war die israelische Non-Profit-Organisation SpaceIL bereits mit einem ähnlichen Versuch gescheitert. Ihre Sonde zerschellte auf der Oberfläche des Mondes.
Bislang ist es nur den USA, Russland und China gelungen, Roboter auf den rund 400.000 Kilometer entfernten Erdtrabanten zu bringen.
"Hakuto-R" hat mehrere Mondfahrzeuge an Bord, darunter auch ein nur acht Zentimeter großes Modell. Die Sonde sollte auch einen Rover der Vereinigten Arabischen Emirate auf den Mond bringen.
