Wissenschaftler warnen vor zu schneller Erderwärmung
Die von Menschen verursachte Erderwärmung hat im Jahrzehnt zwischen 2013 und 2022 einen Rekordwert von mehr als 0,2 Grad im Vergleich zum vorindustriellen Zeitalter erreicht. Das ist das Ergebnis einer Studie, die 50 führende Wissenschaftler in der Zeitschrift "Earth System Science Data" veröffentlicht und am Donnerstag vorgestellt haben. Angesichts dieser Geschwindigkeit warnten sie davor, dass das Pariser Klimaziel einer maximalen Erwärmung von 1,5 Grad nicht eingehalten werden könne.
"Obwohl wir noch nicht bei einer Erwärmung von 1,5 Grad sind, wird unser CO2-Budget wahrscheinlich in wenigen Jahren erschöpft sein", sagte einer der führenden Autoren der Studie, Piers Forster, Physikprofessor an der Universität in Leeds. Das sogenannte CO2-Budget legt fest, wie hoch der Ausstoß klimaschädlicher Treibhausgase sein darf, ohne dass das 1,5-Grad-Ziel überschritten wird.
Die internationale Gemeinschaft hatte sich Ende 2015 in Paris darauf verständigt, die Erderwärmung auf deutlich unter zwei Grad, möglichst aber auf 1,5 Grad im Vergleich zum vorindustriellen Zeitalter zu begrenzen.
Laut den Wissenschaftlern erreichte allerdings auch der jährliche CO2-Ausstoß in den vergangenen zehn Jahren ein Allzeithoch von 54 Milliarden Tonnen, das sind 1700 Tonnen pro Sekunde.
Politiker aus aller Welt werden bei dei der diesjährigen UN-Weltklimakonferenz Ende November in Dubai (COP28) mit den alarmierenden Daten konfrontiert werden. Bei der Konferenz sollen mit einer sogenannten globalen Bestandsaufnahme die Pariser Klimaziele von 2015 überprüft werden.
