Nasa sagt Start der Artemis-Mondmission für Montag ab
Die Nasa hat den für Montag geplanten Start ihrer Artemis-Mondmission abgesagt. Grund seien technische Probleme an einem der Raketentriebwerke, teilte die US-Raumfahrtbehörde mit. Nächstmögliche Starttermine sind der kommende Freitag sowie Montag nächster Woche. Bevor jedoch ein neuer Termin festgelegt werde, müsse das Problem von den Nasa-Teams zunächst begutachtet werden.
Dass der ursprünglich für 12.33 Uhr MESZ geplante Start vom Weltraumbahnhof Cape Canaveral in Florida möglicherweise nicht zu halten sein würde, hatte sich über den Tag immer stärker abgezeichnet. Zunächst sorgten Blitzgefahr und ein mögliches Leck für Verzögerungen beim Betanken der Rakete. Die technischen Probleme mit dem Raketenantrieb machten die Hoffnung dann endgültig zunichte.
Die Nasa hat sich ein ehrgeiziges Ziel gesetzt: 50 Jahre nach der bislang letzten Mondlandung will die US-Raumfahrtbehörde wieder eine Rakete zum Erdtrabanten schicken. Aufgabe der 42-tägigen unbemannten Mission Artemis 1 ist es, die bislang leistungsstärkste Trägerrakete und die an ihrer Spitze sitzende Orion-Kapsel unter realen Bedingungen zu testen.
Die Folge-Mission Artemis 2 soll Astronauten in eine Mond-Umlaufbahn bringen, mit Artemis 3 soll frühestens 2025 eine Mondlandung glücken.
