Legendäre Edwardskrone wird für Krönung von Charles III. "umgearbeitet"
Die legendäre Edwardskrone wird für die Krönungszeremonie von Charles III. im Mai kommenden Jahres "umgearbeitet". Das Prunkstück der britischen Kronjuwelen sei dafür aus der öffentlichen Ausstellung im Tower von London genommen worden, teilte am Samstag der Buckingham-Palast mit. Die Krone war zuletzt bei der Krönung von Elizabeth II. im Jahr 1953 im Einsatz.
Die legendäre Krone besteht aus Gold, Silber, Rubinen und Saphiren. Sie wiegt mehr als zwei Kilogramm. Die Krönungszeremonie für Charles III. soll am 6. Mai in der Westminster Abbey stattfinden. Dem 74-Jährigen wird die Edwardskrone allerdings nur kurz im Moment der Krönung aufgesetzt.
Beim Verlassen der Kirche trägt Charles III. dann eine leichtere Krone. Diese trug die im September verstorbene Queen auch bei der jährlichen Eröffnung des Parlaments.
