Justin Bieber verkauft Rechte an seinen Songs für 200 Millionen Dollar
Popstar Justin Bieber hat die Rechte an seinen Songs für 200 Millionen Dollar an den Musik-Investmentfonds Hipgnosis Songs Capital verkauft. Hipgnosis gab am Dienstag das Geschäft mit dem 28-jährigen Sänger von Hits wie "Baby", "Sorry" and "Love Yourself" bekannt, über das seit Wochen spekuliert worden war.
Der von dem Investmentriesen Blackstone gestützte Fonds erwarb die Rechte an allen 290 Songs, die der kanadische Musiker bis Ende 2021 veröffentlicht hat. Einen Kaufpreis nannte Hipgnosis nicht. Informierte Kreise bestätigten der Nachrichtenagentur AFP aber die Summe von 200 Millionen Dollar (rund 184 Millionen Euro).
In den vergangenen Jahren haben zahlreiche Musik-Stars die Rechte an ihren Songs für große Summen verkauft, unter ihnen Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Sting, David Bowie, Shakira und Paul Simon. Das Geschäft ist unter anderem wegen der zunehmenden Nutzung von Streamingplattformen äußerst lukrativ.
Justin Bieber war als Teenager auf der Videoplattform Youtube entdeckt worden und rasch zum Superstar ausgestiegen. Er hat inzwischen weltweit mehr als 150 Millionen Platten verkauft. Auf der Streamingplattform Spotify hat er monatlich 82 Millionen Hörer.
