Der Franzose Christophe Gruault hat sich auf eine Ruder-Tour von Polen nach Frankreich begeben, um auf die Verschmutzung der Flüsse in Europa aufmerksam zu machen. Der 58-Jährige startete am Montag in der polnischen Hauptstadt Warschau seine Reise, die ihn durch fünf Länder - Polen, Deutschland, die Niederlande, Belgien und Frankreich - führen soll. Er hofft, am 18. Juni in Paris anzukommen.
Gruault rudert in einem speziell angefertigten Boot, das sechs Meter lang und 60 Zentimeter breit ist. Er will auf seiner Reise insgesamt mehr als 2000 Kilometer zurücklegen und über 22 Flüsse rudern. Er wolle mit seiner Aktion zeigen, "dass das Schöne zerbrechlich ist und dass man sich um das Zerbrechliche kümmern muss", sagte Gruault der Nachrichtenagentur AFP kurz vor seiner Abfahrt auf der Weichsel.
Gruault will unterwegs DNA-Proben aus der Natur entnehmen und sie Wissenschaftlern zur Verfügung stellen.
