Versehentliche Welt-Uraufführung von Ed-Sheeran-Song in Gerichtsverfahren
Eingefleischte Ed-Sheeran-Fans würden Einiges dafür geben, unveröffentlichte Songs des britischen Popstars zu hören - Beteiligte und Zuschauer in einem Urheberrechtsprozess hatten jetzt gratis das Vergnügen. "Das ist ein Song, den ich letzten Januar geschrieben habe", sagte ein sichtlich verwirrter Sheeran zu seinen Anwälten, als am Dienstag im Londoner High Court ein Ausschnitt aus dem bisher noch nie öffentlich gespielten Lied erklang. "Wo haben Sie das her?"
Sheerans Anwalt erklärte, es handele sich um ein Versehen, das durch die Nutzung eines iTunes-Accounts auf dem Computer von Steven McCutcheon, einem der Co-Autoren von Sheerans Hit "Shape of You", zustande gekommen sei.
In dem Urheberrechtsprozess werfen die Songschreiber Sami Chokri und Ross O'Donoghue Sheeran vor, sein Megahit "Shape of You" basiere in Teilen auf ihrem Song "Oh Why". Sheeran weist das zurück und betont, er habe "Oh Why" noch nie gehört, bevor die beiden ihre Klage einreichten.
Sheeran hatte "Shape of You" gemeinsam mit John McDaid und McCutcheon geschrieben; der 2017 veröffentlichte Song ist sein bisher größter Erfolg. Mit mehr als drei Milliarden Aufrufen ist er der meistgestreamte Song auf Spotify.
