Prozess um Steuerhinterziehung rund um Sommermärchen 2006 beginnt in Frankfurt
Vor dem Landgericht Frankfurt am Main beginnt fast 18 Jahre nach der Fußballweltmeisterschaft am Montag (10.00 Uhr) der Prozess um das sogenannte Sommermärchen 2006 in Deutschland. Angeklagt sind drei ehemalige ranghohe Funktionäre des Deutschen Fußballbunds (DFB) wegen Steuerhinterziehung im besonders schweren Fall. Die Staatsanwaltschaft wirft den ehemaligen DFB-Präsidenten Wolfgang Niersbach und Theo Zwanziger sowie dem ehemaligen DFB-Generalsekretär Horst Schmidt vor, die Abgabe falscher Steuererklärungen im Umfeld der Fußballweltmeisterschaft der Männer veranlasst zu haben.
Dadurch seien Körperschaft-, Gewerbe- und Umsatzsteuern sowie Solidaritätszuschläge für 2006 in Höhe von mehr als 13,7 Millionen Euro nicht gezahlt worden. Ein für die Organisation verantwortliches Komitee soll laut Anklage 2005 rund 6,7 Millionen Euro erhalten haben. Dieses Geld habe der DFB im Jahresabschluss als Betriebsausgabe für eine WM-Gala geltend gemacht. Die WM-Gala fand nie statt - tatsächlich soll ein anderer Zweck zugrunde gelegen haben. Bis Ende Oktober sind zunächst 24 Verhandlungstermine angesetzt.
