Kambodscha stellt neuen Weltrekord im "Brauttragen" auf
Hunderte Menschen in Kambodscha haben bei schwüler tropischer Hitze einen ungewöhnlichen neuen Weltrekord aufgestellt - in der Disziplin "Brauttragen". 245 Männer hoben am Freitagabend ihre Frauen, Freundinnen, Schwestern oder Mütter mit einem Arm unter den Beinen und einem Arm um den Rücken hoch. Sie hielten diese Position zeitgleich eine Minute lang, um den Rekord zu erreichen. Dieser wurde von Vertretern des Guinness-Buchs der Rekorde bestätigt.
"Ich bin so glücklich, es ist das erste Mal, dass ich an so einer Veranstaltung teilnehme, um einen Weltrekord für Kambodscha aufzustellen", sagte der 25-jährige Sam Khan der Nachrichtenagentur AFP, bevor er seine Frau trug. "Ich bin so aufgeregt", sagte die 50 Jahre alte Heng Pov, während ihr Sohn sie trug. Nachdem der Rekord aufgestellt wurde, machten viele Teilnehmer trotzdem weiter: Bei einem Wettbewerb konnten sie ein neues Auto gewinnen.
Das "Brauttragen" ist danach benannt, wie der Bräutigam in manchen Kulturen seine Braut über die Schwelle ihres neuen Zuhauses trägt.
