Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg über Depression: Bin an "Grenzen gestoßen"
Der frühere Bundesverteidigungsminister Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg (CSU) hat offen über seine Depression gesprochen. "Insbesondere als ich doch sehr früh und viel zu schnell in diese hohen Ämter aufgestiegen bin, bin ich einfach an die Grenzen meiner Belastbarkeit gestoßen", sagte der 52-Jährige dem Entertainer Harald Schmidt im Podcast "Raus aus der Depression" des Radiosenders NDR Info nach Angaben vom Montag.
"Das sind Grenzen, die sind physischer Natur", sagte zu Guttenberg weiter. "Aber ich habe auch festgestellt, wie zunehmend mein Geist Schaden nimmt." Dann sei schließlich "eine Depression diagnostiziert" worden. "Es hat sich herausgestellt, dass Depression eine sehr frühe Veranlagung in meinem Leben war", sagte zu Guttenberg. Sein Rücktritt als Verteidigungsminister sei dabei nur ein "zusätzlicher Trigger" gewesen.
Guttenberg war 2011 wegen einer Affäre um Plagiate in seiner Doktorarbeit nach 16 Monaten im Amt zurückgetreten. Eine Behandlung mit Psychotherapie und kurzfristig auch Medikamenten habe geholfen, dass er heute wieder ein zufriedenes Leben führen könne. "Ich kann sagen, dass ich mich heute in einer guten Ausgangssituation befinde, in der ich nicht wäre, wenn ich mir damals nicht Hilfe gesucht hätte", sagte zu Guttenberg.
