Morre, aos 63 anos, o diretor francês Laurent Cantet
O cineasta francês Laurent Cantet, Palma de Ouro em 2008 com "Entre os Muros da Escola" e diretor de filmes gravados em Cuba e no Haiti, morreu nesta quinta-feira (25) aos 63 anos, informou sua agente à AFP.
"Ele morreu esta manhã em Paris devido a uma doença", disse Isabelle de la Patellière.
Autor de nove longas-metragens, Cantet trabalhava atualmente em um novo projeto, "L’apprenti", com lançamento previsto para 2025.
Em 2012, o cineasta participou de uma obra coletiva, "7 Dias em Havana", junto a outros seis diretores, entre eles Benicio del Toro. A produção capturou o cotidiano da capital cubana ao longo de sete episódios.
Dois anos depois voltou a Havana para filmar "Retorno a Ítaca", um filme conjunto sobre as memórias de cinco amigos após o regresso do exílio de um deles, com Isabel Santos e Jorge Perugorría no elenco.
"Entre os Muros da Escola" se passa em um colégio de Paris e narra, com um olhar de documentário, o dia a dia de um professor de francês que leciona para adolescentes rebeldes de um bairro da periferia parisiense.
Outros filmes conhecidos de Laurent Cantet são "Recursos Humanos" (1999), sobre as relações trabalhistas em uma empresa francesa, e "Em Direção ao Sul", ambientado no Haiti e filmado em 2005 com Charlotte Rampling e Karen Young.
O Festival de Cannes, cuja 77ª edição terá início no dia 14 de maio, citou o cineasta como um "humanista feroz, que buscou a luz apesar da violência social, que encontrou esperança apesar da dureza da realidade".
Foi um diretor e roteirista "cujo trabalho coerente e humanista desenha um cinema sensível, à flor da pele e à margem da sociedade", acrescenta a declaração.
