Jeremy Irons nahm Filmrollen zur Bezahlung der Renovierung seines Schlosses an
Der britische Schauspieler und Oscar-Preisträger Jeremy Irons hat Filmrollen angenommen, um Renovierungsarbeiten an seinem Schloss zu bezahlen. Den Film "Dungeons & Dragons" habe er zum Beispiel "ausschließlich für das Schloss gedreht", sagte der 73-Jährige dem Magazin der Wochenzeitung "Die Zeit" laut Mitteilung vom Mittwoch.
Irons hatte 1997 im Süden Irlands das verfallene Kilcoe Castle, das seit 400 Jahren nicht mehr bewohnt worden war, gekauft. "Es lag vor mir wie ein ungeliebtes Lebewesen, alt, zahnlos", sagte der Schauspieler. Er habe sich in das Gebäude verliebt, als er es zum ersten Mal gesehen habe. Er dachte, er könne das zurückzuholen.
Die Renovierungsarbeiten hätten viele Jahre gedauert. "Danach habe ich erst einmal wieder sehr lukrative Hollywood-Angebote angenommen, um den Schlossbau weiter zu finanzieren", sagte Irons. Als Beispiel nannte er "dieses furchtbare 'Dungeons & Dragons'". Die Verfilmung des gleichnamigen Rollenspiels kam im Jahr 2000 in die Kinos.
