Beeston pub closes after office fire injures man

The Nurseryman pub in Beeston was evacuated after a fire broke out in a downstairs office on Sunday afternoon.

Text size:

Staff evacuated customers from the Nurseryman pub on Derby Road, Beeston, after a fire started in a downstairs office area at about 2pm on Sunday, August 30.

Crews from Stapleford and Highfields fire stations attended. One man sustained burns to his hands and was treated by firefighters before making his own way to the Queen's Medical Centre. No other injuries were reported.

Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose-reel jet to bring the fire under control. Crews then operated two positive-pressure ventilation fans to remove smoke from the building. Stapleford Fire Station said the Greene King-operated pub would remain closed for the rest of the day and thanked staff and customers for acting quickly.
