Ältester Hund der Welt stirbt im Alter von 22 Jahren
Der laut Guinness-Buch der Rekorde älteste Hund der Welt ist gestorben. Die Toy-Foxterrier-Hündin mit dem Namen Pebbles starb im Alter von 22 Jahren eines natürlichen Todes in ihrem Zuhause, wie ihre Besitzerin Julie Gregory im Onlinedienst Instagram schrieb. Das Tier wurde am 28. März 2000 im US-Bundesstaat New York geboren und verbrachte den größten Teil seines Lebens in South Carolina.
In den vergangenen zehn Jahren hatten die Besitzer von Pebbles die Hündin mit Katzenfutter gefüttert. Im Laufe ihres Lebens brachte die rund zwei Kilogramm schwere Pebbles 32 Welpen zur Welt. Guinness World Records hatte das Tier erst im Mai zum ältesten Hund der Welt ernannt. Gregory führte die Gesundheit der Hündin auf die Pflege des Tieres zurück, welche sie "mit größter Sorgfalt" vorgenommen habe.
