WWF: Mehr als 550 Orte in Deutschland bei Earth Hour im Dunkeln
An der sogenannten Earth Hour für den Klimaschutz haben in Deutschland nach Angaben des WWF mehr als 550 Städte und Gemeinden teilgenommen. In 557 Orten seien um 20.30 Uhr für eine Stunde die Lichter ausgegangen, teilte die Klimaschutzorganisation am Samstagabend mit. Unter anderem war das Brandenburger Tor in Berlin ins Dunkel gehüllt.
Die Earth Hour fand in diesem Jahr zum 18. Mal statt, sie stand diesmal unter dem Motto "Deine Stunde für die Erde – Klima schützen, Demokratie stärken".
Rund um den Globus waren Millionen Menschen aufgefordert, jeweils um 20.30 Uhr Ortszeit für eine Stunde das Licht auszuschalten, um ein Zeichen für Klima- und Umweltschutz zu setzen. Unter anderem gingen die Lichter an der berühmten Oper in Sydney aus, auch das Empire State Building in New York wollte sich beteiligen.
