Energieversorger im Südwesten Chinas kündigt wegen Dürre Stromausfälle an
Im Südwesten Chinas hat ein Energieversorger wegen der anhaltenden Dürre Stromausfälle angekündigt: Die rund 5,4 Millionen Einwohner der Stadt Dazhou müssten sich am Mittwoch auf bis zu dreistündige Unterbrechungen einstellen, berichtete eine Online-Zeitung in Shanghai unter Berufung auf das Unternehmen Dazhou Electric Power Group. Die Region bezieht ihren Strom vor allem aus Wasserkraft - der Pegel in vielen Stauseen ist wegen der Hitze stark gesunken.
Dazhou liegt in der Provinz Sichuan mit 84 Millionen Menschen; bereits seit Montag wird hier in 19 von 21 Städten der Strom für Fabriken rationiert. Der japanische Autobauer Toyota bestätigte am Montag, in seinem Gemeinschaftsunternehmen in der Provinzhauptstadt Chengu sei die Produktion gestoppt worden. Damit würden die Anordnungen der Behörden befolgt. Auch Batteriehersteller Contemporary Amperex Technologie, einer der größten der Welt, legte die Produktion in der Stadt Yibin still.
Auch im Osten Chinas herrscht eine Hitzewelle. In der Provinz Jianxi wurden 140.000 Hektar Ernte vernichtet, wie die chinesische Nachrichtenagentur Xinhua am Dienstag berichtete. 11.000 Menschen hätten Schwierigkeiten, an Trinkwasser zu kommen.
In vielen Städten der Region - Hefei in der Provinz Anhui, Hangzhou in Zhejiang oder im Kreis Hai'an in Jiangsu - berichten Lokalzeitungen von stark gestiegenen Eierpreisen, weil die Hühner wegen der Hitze weniger legen. Die Preise kletterten teils um 30 Prozent.
