Mehr als 180 Tote durch Überschwemmungen in Afghanistan
Durch schwere Überschwemmungen sind in Afghanistan innerhalb eines Monats mehr als 180 Menschen ums Leben gekommen. Etwa 3000 Häuser seien zerstört worden, sagte am Donnerstag ein Sprecher der Taliban-Regierung in Kabul. Das durch heftige Regenfälle vor allem im Osten des Landes ausgelöste Problem sei durch das "Missmanagement" der vorherigen Regierung verstärkt worden, kritisierte er.
Doch auch die Taliban, die vor einem Jahr die Macht wieder an sich gerissen hatten, können den Folgen der Unwetter kaum etwas entgegensetzen: "Wenn die Überschwemmungen sich verstärken, hat das Islamische Emirat Afghanistan nicht so viele Ressourcen, um den Auswirkungen zu begegnen", sagte Regierungssprecher Sabihullah Mudschahid.
Seit der Machtübernahme der radikalislamischen Taliban im vergangenen August wurden internationale Hilfsprogramme drastisch reduziert. Der Westen befürchtet, dass Hilfen direkt in die Taschen der Taliban fließen könnten.
