Indonesiens Behörden geben nach Ausbrüchen von Vulkan Ruang Entwarnung
Nach mehreren Ausbrüchen des Vulkans Ruang in Indonesien haben die Behörden Entwarnung gegeben. Die vulkanische Aktivität am Krater habe sich beruhigt, teilte die Vulkanologiebehörde am Montag mit. Daher gelte nun wieder die zweithöchste Alarmstufe. Auch die Sperrzone rund um den Vulkan wurde von sechs auf vier Kilometer verkleinert. Der mehr als 100 Kilometer entfernte internationale Flughafen der Stadt Manado wurde wieder geöffnet.
Der Ruang im Nordosten Indonesiens war seit Dienstag vergangener Woche etwa ein halbes Dutzend Mal ausgebrochen. Dabei stieg eine hunderte Meter hohe Rauchsäule über dem Krater auf, Lava floss die Hänge hinab. Der Ruang befindet sich auf einer kleinen Insel unweit von Tagulandang, wo etwa 20.000 Menschen leben. Mehr als 6000 von ihnen mussten vorübergehend ihre Häuser in der Sperrzone verlassen. Tote oder Verletzte gab es aber nicht.
2018 hatte ein Ausbruch des Vulkans Anak Krakatoa, der zwischen den Inseln Java und Sumatra liegt, einen Tsunami ausgelöst. Weil der Krater teilweise einstürzte, entstand damals eine so heftige Flutwelle, dass mehr als 400 Menschen ums Leben kamen.
Das südostasiatische Indonesien mit seinen mehr als 17.000 Inseln liegt auf dem sogenannten Pazifischen Feuerring, wo mehrere Erdplatten zusammenstoßen. Es kommt daher dort häufig zu Erdbeben und Vulkanausbrüchen.
