Popstar Shakira muss in Spanien wegen Steuerhinterziehung vor Gericht. Ein Gericht bei Barcelona ließ die Anklage gegen die kolumbianische Sängerin am Dienstag zu. Die Ermittler werfen der 45-Jährigen vor, den spanischen Fiskus um 14,5 Millionen Euro an Steuern betrogen zu haben. Ein Prozessdatum stand zunächst noch nicht fest.
Die Staatsanwaltschaft hatte im Juli in ihrer Anklageschrift angekündigt, mindestens acht Jahre Haft fordern zu wollen. Shakira hatte zuvor einen Deal mit der Ermittlungsbehörde abgelehnt. Sie weist alle Vorwürfe zurück.
Die spanische Staatsanwaltschaft beschuldigt Shakira, zwischen 2012 und 2014 keine Einkommensteuer in Spanien gezahlt zu haben. Sie habe in dieser Zeit gemeinsam mit dem spanischen Top-Fußballer Gerard Piqué im Land gelebt, ihren steuerrechtlichen Wohnsitz aber bis 2015 auf den Bahamas gehabt.
Shakiras Anwälte halten dem entgegen, dass ihr Einkommen vor allem aus internationalen Tourneen stamme und dass sie nicht mehr als sechs Monate im Jahr in Spanien gelebt habe. Sie habe zudem bereits gut 17 Millionen Euro an den spanischen Fiskus gezahlt.
Shakira ist mit über 60 Millionen verkauften Alben eine der erfolgreichsten Musikerinnen der vergangenen zwei Jahrzehnte. Im Juni trennte sie sich nach zwölf Jahren Beziehung von dem spanischen Fußballstar Gerard Piqué. Die beiden haben zwei Kinder zusammen und wurden vom US-Magazin "Forbes" mehrfach unter die Top 10 der "mächtigsten Paare der Welt" gewählt. Das Paar lebte lange gemeinsam am Stadtrand von Barcelona.
